Republicans attempt to connect with Latino, Chinese, and Vietnamese Americans - but leave out Black, Native American, Indian Americans, and more

Screen shot shows sentiment for Republican video about repeal of Chinese Exclusion Laws

Republicans are attempting to reach out to people of color on their YouTube channel called "House Republicans"

Look at the sentiment that people have for the video about respect for Chinese verses the video about respect for Hispanics, highlighted at the bottom right of each screen shot. (Screen shots taken on 8/24/2014)

To be fair, we can't be sure if people are voting for the production quality of each video, the words chosen for each video, the people in the video, or the people that the video is about.

However, I was shocked by how many thumbs down are on the video about Hispanic Heritage month.

The one minute videos are below.

You can see them reading from the teleprompter. Maybe that also accounts for some of the down votes.

But why does the video on Hispanic Heritage have way more down votes? The videos were only posted three months apart.

I searched for Asian (in general) and actually found a decent video about respecting Vietnamese Americans though.

Also telling is what we do not find on their channel.

I also searched their channel for the following

  • African
  • Black
  • Native
  • Indian
No videos about respecting African American history month, or Native American Indians or Indian Americans either.

Their YouTube channel has been open since Jun 4, 2007

In seven years they have one video that is Pro Vietnamese, one video that is Pro Chinese and one video that is Pro Hispanic (but with 203 thumbs down on that one) - and they fail to disable the voting on the video that has the thumbs down.

Here are the videos. How would you vote on these videos?
